Singapore is Hosting the 15th Edition of World Gourmet Summit this Week

In the name World Gourmet Summit 2011, Summit is the key word as it is an occasion for the very top of the world’s chef to meet. It is a weeklong event happening at Singapore between April 25 and May8 2011. It is a treat for gourmands of Singapore as they get to celebrate exquisite creations by the world’s leading chefs and some exceptional wine tastings from vintners from the world over. Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, the Summit is Asia’s foremost gastronomic event.

Some of the most iconic names from the culinary world are participating in the annual epicurean event that will host 54 themed events over the week. The festival has planned gourmet safaris, vintner dinners, celebrity dinners and master-classes and much more. Fourteen establishments are playing host to the event and the festival has the support of twelve hospitality partners. The food and cuisine in Singapore is already famous for its variety. The Summit playing out in the top restaurants and hotels will give a further boost to the gastronomic scene of the city.

This is the 15th edition of the Summit that celebrates gastronomic excellence. The list of participating chefs reads like a who’s who of the culinary world including Andrew Turner from Wiltons in London, Edward Kwon from The Spice in Seoul, Michael Ginor from LOLA in New York and Rachel Allen from County Cork in Ireland. Chef Yuji Wakiya, owner of Wakiya Ichiemicharou in Tokyo is leading a large contingent of Asian master chefs this year. Like I said before, it is the Summit and it can’t get higher or better than this.
