One of the foremost names in the bourbon making community, Woodford Reserve, which is also the official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby is now all set to introduce a one of a kind Julep that will also prove to be the world’s most expensive mint Julep, carrying a price tag of $1,000 and the best part of these delicious drink is that the proceeds from the sales of this mint Julep will be forwarded to charities. This incredibly costly and delightfully tasteful new bourbon has been introduced in collaboration with one of the most prominent jewelry and silverware company, Tiffany & Co.
The world’s most expensive Julep from Woodford Reserve is slated to be introduced during an auction that is scheduled to place at the Kentucky Derby on May 7th , 2011, where in the prolific bourbon manufacturer will put 103 cups of this magnificent Julep under the hammer with a starting price of $2,000 apiece. The May 7th race is set to take place at Churchill Downs and is aimed raising funds for the noble cause of rescuing horses from abuse in collaboration with the charity organization, Heart of a Horse. The auction of this Julep will consist of authentic silver cups that carry a 24 karat gold vermeil base. This vermeil was previously used by Tiffany & Co. on a horse racing trophy that was originally designed in the year 1876. Woodford Reserve will also be offering silver cups without gold base at the auction at $1,000 apiece. However, the cream of the cake will most definitely by the mint Julep that has been created using a variety of exotic ingredients such as, a rare chocolate mint grown in San Diego, ice made of rainwater harvested on the exquisite Tasmania island as well as sugar taken from the South Pacific.
