A Sip of Extravagance

MMXII is the third in the series of the Macallan 1824 Collection Limited. The sheer aristocracy of the whisky comes from the fact that this single malt has been selected from casks at the Macallan Estate that have been maturing in a traditional way at cool stone warehouses.

A scent of sweet dried fruits, ginger, nutmeg and soft wood spice emanates from the rosewood coloured whisky. Each sip of this limited edition 1824 whisky is divine. The spices will first send you in a tizzy and then the combined flavours of raisin and orange chocolate will soothe your by now tantalizing pallet. The super smooth malt was hand crafted in Jerez, an exotic town in southern Spain to give that royal and regal flavour. Made exclusively for the Edrington group and meant only for the elite who will truly savour the taste of this very exclusive whisky, the Macallan Limited Release MMXII single malt was seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry for two years. The distillers have said that since the whisky matured in special Sherry oak casks, it has a rich character and a unique and distinctive colour.

The makers obviously thought of an exclusive decanter to store this rather extravagant single malt whisky which contains about 49.5% alcohol. The exotic addition to the Macallan 1824 Collection Limited Release is available in a decanter made by a fine craftsman. The decanter is embedded with hand blown delicate crystals which were hand engraved on a varnished wooden box.

For all those who are already making some space for this single malt whisky in their rather opulent bars at home kindly note that the unveiling of the Macallan Limited Release MMXII will be held in Singapore at the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition later this month.
