Dior has created some landmark designs over the years. Their latest ‘VIII’ timepiece collection is another set of design that is sure to become a standard in watch design. It is so impressive because of the way it has blended the creativity of haute couture with the finesse and technical savvy of Swiss watch making and is headed to become a landmark for Dior watches. The watch has been designed in black and the color has been introduced through the use of pink sapphires, citrine, garnets and of course diamonds. The bracelet of the watch is made of black ceramic pyramid shaped links that goes perfectly with the ultra-feminine and classic luxury wristwatch.
The watch is simple and yet very elegant. The dial has been covered in black lacquer. The Roman Numeral VIII is prominently engraved at the 8 o’clock mark. Dior VIII Grand Bal is a limited edition top range design and four of them come with an oscillating weight that both rewinds the movement and depicts the outline of a ball gown. Diamonds have been used most effectively to depict the shape of a dress on the dial. The rotor which is made in white gold is made to resemble the lace on a ball gown with diamond and mother of pearl engraving. The oscillating movement makes the dress on the dial swirl and twirl.
The exclusive movement has been designed by master watchmaker Frédéric Jouvenot. He has named it Dior Inversé. The transparent case back allows you to see the movement in the automatic versions. The address of VIII Place Vendôme is engraved on the back of the dial. This exclusive collection has been designed as a tribute to Christian Dior and will always find a mention as an outstanding design by Dior. It will join some of the other iconic design by the fashion house like 1946 Bar Suit, the Lady Dior handbag and the Dior J’Adore perfume.
