World Luxury Hotel Awards: The Oscars of Hospitality Industry

If you are the owner of a luxury hotel or even a guest house, it could be quite difficult to attract the kind of clientele that you want as customers. Not only is the competition tough but it becomes increasingly difficult to survive in an atmosphere where usual advertisements and word of mouth don’t work.

Thus, a recognizable award or a certificate always helps one to catapult themselves to the echelons of the hospitality industry. One such event is the World Luxury Hotel Awards, which have been held since 2006 and is being viewed as the equivalent of the Oscars. WLHA founder and CEO, Brandon Lourens reveals that the winner would always be able to attract the best among the world, once they receive an award.

The best part about these awards is that one could nominate, and thus has a very democratic way of operating. It is not just hotels, but also luxury spa, coastal and casino hotels to game lodges, golf resorts and country houses which can take part in the award ceremonies. Interestingly, the last few years, hotels and restaurants from South Africa have won most of the awards.
