Philippe Bo from Paris has formed a new company WannaJet. The company was launched in the USA on June 9, 2010. WannaJet plans to provide its customers the convenience and comfort of private flying for a price that can be as low as a first class ticket. For example a private jet from New York to Boston starts at just $446.
The business model of the company is simple but effective. The pricing structure is built on the basis of four to six passengers per plane. You may start by asking if there is a partially filled plane going to the destination of your choice on the day you are scheduled to travel. If not , you can request for a new plane. If only three seats are booked 72 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight the passengers will be offered the chance to pay 30% more each, or else the flight will be cancelled and the passengers will be booked on commercial flights of equal value. WannaJet manages to keep its overheads low because it does not own any aircraft. They charter the plane on by-request basis.
Philippe Bo is the former CFO of GE who has shuttled around on commercial airlines all his life. He held a presentation at the Intrepid Museum, New York. Later during the cocktail fete he also talked about the charities WannaJet wants to support.
