This year’s World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia Ceremony is going to be held at the The Claridges, Surajkund, Delhi, NCR in October. Graham E. Cooke, Founder and President of World Travel Awards, called it the ‘Oscars’ of the global industry, and rightly so. He also said, “International tourism is slowly gaining momentum after extremely difficult times last year. The region was up an incredible 10% in the first two months of the year, an indication of the industry’s resourcefulness, drive and determination to succeed.”

This is quite an incredible feat, considering the global economy faced a meltdown and all industries, including the hotel industry faced the effects of the recession. He talked about these awards: “World Travel Awards was established 17 years ago to drive up standards of customer service and overall performance and this year’s winners will be an excellent business model for others to follow. The hotel is an ideal venue for such an event, combining both a business and luxury resort in one.”

More than 80 travel brands will be competing in this and the competition is expected to be quite tough this year. Those who will win in the regional’s will move on to compete in the World Travel Awards 2010 Grand Final in London on Sunday 7 November.
