Finally the day has arrived when the world’s highest hotel will open its doors to the public. Located on the top floors of the International Commerce Centre (ICC) in Hong Kong, the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong occupies floors 102 to 118 if the imposing building. Being up thousands of feet with the magnificent Hong Kong skyline as the backdrop will give the visitors and guests a high you cannot experience in other luxury hotels. The view of the city and the Victoria Harbor in particular is simply breathtaking. The management of the hotel is describing today’s opening as a ‘soft’ launch for the public and May 3 has been fixed as the day for the official grand opening. Though, the hotel has been made fully ready for the opening today. The entire team of staff had left no stone unturned to make the tallest hotel the best hotel. The restaurants, the rooms and every other amenity in the hotel were not just made functional but dry runs were made to check on the efficiency of the service.
The new hotel has three restaurants on the 102nd floor. One of them is a Chinese restaurant; the other is called Tosca which is an Italian restaurant and is backed byfloor-to-ceiling glass-front wine refrigerators to provide the best choice of wines to the guests. The third is a multi cuisine restaurant providing a wider choice to the guests. As you go up to the 103rd floor you come to The Chocolate Library which is basically a chocolate themed lounge. The hotel also boasts of a patisserie for which you will have to climb to the 109th floor. And can you imagine what it would feel like being in a spa 16,000 feet above the ground? Yes, the Ritz-Carlton Spa by ESPA is located on the 116th floor featuring nine deluxe treatment rooms and two couple’s suites all with floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views. It is the ultimate in urban spa sanctuary experiences and not just the guests of the hotel but the residents and other visitors to Hong Kong will have access and can enjoy the heavenly experience. The Diamond Ballroom at the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong is one of the largest in the city at 10,000 square feet. (Please excuse me for not telling you the exact floor number of its location as I have lost count). The ballroom is perfect for weddings, gala events and large gatherings and meetings. And being located in The ICC gives the hotel the added advantage that it is sitting on top of one million square foot Elements shopping mall that offers some of the finest shopping in Hong Kong with luxury brand names featured throughout this world-class location.
The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong has a total of 312 rooms. The rack rates for the standard deluxe rooms start at 6,000 Hong Kong Dollars which is approximately $770. The Presidential Suite has been priced for a 10,000 Hong Kong Dollars. For the month of April, the hotel is offering an introductory package that will cost only HK$3,888 a night, single occupancy (HK$4,088 for two), including breakfast. All rates will attract a service charge of 10%.
This opening marks a return of the Ritz Carlton to Hong Kong as their earlier property in the Central District of the City had closed down in 2008. Mark DeCocinis, general manager of the hotel is very excited about the legacy brand to the city. The brand was first launched in the city way back in 1993 and one thing they have maintained throughout is their service commitment. They are lucky to have got back a lot of their committed and well trained staff from their previous property across the harbor. If you are in Hong Kong, you should not miss the opportunity to visit the tallest hotel which has the highest bar with the best views in the world. And the cherry on the cake is the pool on the top floor that would really make you feel on the top of the world.
