The Olsen twins have been a celebrity practically all their life. Born in 1986, the twins started their acting career in 1987 with the television series Full House. By 1993 they had become a brand big enough to establish a company and sell products in their name. They took the mass market route to success. They have done extremely well in chains like Wal-Mart and JC Penny. They slowly grew into the luxury and contemporary womenswear segments and have been received well by the market. Now they are preparing to take another significant step and get on the internet bandwagon.
The Olsen sisters are lucky to have got Josh Berman, who is considered the original pioneer of the World Wide Web, to help them in their new venture. Josh Berman is known as the co-founder of Myspace. In those days phones and catalogues, Myspace seemed to be so ahead of its time. The website that is being developed for the Olsen twins will be called StyleMint.com. It will function as a personalized shopping website and will take into account your individual style while recommending different merchandise designed by Olsens.
Josh Berman had earlier created JewelMint.com for Kate Bosworth and her stylist, Cher Coulter. The sight specializes in jewelry. When you sign up as a member, you are made to answer a questionnaire in order to determine your style and your preferences. The recommendations they make are based on those findings. StyleMint.com, which will be launched in July is likely to follow the same format. To start with, the Olsens will launch a collection of women’s T shirts and price all items at $29.99. Like all their other ventures StyleMint.com is also headed for success.
