The Hobbits were small creatures that were wiped out when Homo sapiens accosted them, thousands of years ago. The legend of Hobbits has created many smaller legends which have in turn been adapted into short stories, movies, novels and even comic books. The Hobbit has also been adapted into a film and it would be a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
It is being planned to be shot in New Zealand. It is expected to cost $500 million and is going to be the most expensive movie ever created. The most expensive movie so far was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which cost US$300 million.
The film has had to wrangle legally with Warner Bros/New Line Cinema. Sir Peter Jackson’s New Zealand company, Wingnut Films must have spent well over $100 million just for the legal expenses. It will be shot after the green light has been received. I am sure most people would be eager to know what the movie has packed in, for it would cost so much. One should really wait and watch to see if the movie will bring back all the money that’s lost.
