In recent weeks, shuffles have taken place in the higher echelons of several luxury brands. Sue Whiteley became the new Givenchy chief while Frederic Cumenal took over as President of Tiffany & Co. A similar development has led to a new Editor-At-Large in chief for UPTOWN Magazine, a high-end publication targeted at wealthy African-Americans. The woman of the moment is the multi-talented Star Jones who has donned the many roles of attorney, TV personality and bestselling author among other things.
UPTOWN Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief Keija Minor said that Jones represents the magazine’s readership and is bring her star power to the consumers. UPTOWN is currently the only luxury magazine that caters to affluent African-Americans. Founded in 2004, the magazine is owned by the Uptown Media Group and is published eight times a year.
Jones admitted to being thrilled about her new appointment. Her first editorial contribution to the magazine will appear in the upcoming Weddings and Travel special issue that will hit the stands on 20 January 2012. In December, Jones will be making her online debut.
UPTOWN Magazine offers content relating to fashion, lifestyle, entertainment and politics. Jones will be contributing feature articles on politics, entertainment and celebrities. In addition, she will have a regular column. Jones is known for her ability to simplify complicated legal wrangles. This quality, combined with her talent for a TV spot, has helped her become a respected social commentator.
