Cyclone Oli that went through French Polynesia last February had brought slight damage to it. But with renovations the resort came out stronger which many people had thought was impossible.
Bora Bora’s grounds have been updated with newly redesigned landscaping and re-sanded beaches. Even the Private Langoonarium and other ponds received marine alternations and pretty new fish species were introduced along with coral growth.
Adding to the renovations was also the retiling of all the pools of the St. Regis Bora Bora that including the resort’s lavish 13,000 square foot Royal Estate that was fitted with white glass paste tiles reflecting the color of the sky. Also retiled with turquoise glass that reflect the natural light were Pools at the Royal Over Water Villas, Pool Beach Villas, The Private Ocean Front Villas, Royal Oceanfront Villas and the Main pool.
Michael Schoonewagen, the newly appointed General Manager is experienced. His family owned a hotel in South of France and he has also worked at the top establishments ranging from Monte Carlo to Paris to Mauritius.
