Small Luxury Hotels is Back on the Growth Track after the Recession

Paul Kerr had founded Small Luxury Hotels with the objective of bringing independent hotels with character on a platform to optimize their business. SLH which started with 70 hotels in 1991 has grown in twenty years to be an organization with 527 member hotels. The organization is back on the growth path again after coming out of the recessionary period and the future looks bright for growth and expansion.

The organization is taking steps to facilitate the business and its operations better. The firm’s European reservation centre has been shifted to UK from Germany as UK generates the maximum bookings for the member hotels. The head office of the organization has also been shifted from Surrey tom London. A physical presence in London is expected to increase the ratio of conversion of enquiries to firm bookings. SLH receives good support of from its vast network of travel agents who contribute the bulk of the business.

SLH follows very strict criteria for acceptance of new members. Only 5% of applicants finally get accepted in the organization. Canal House in Amsterdam, Hotel Eclat in Beijing, L’And Vineyards Resort are some of the new member of the organization. Most of the member hotels are the best in their location. Their presence in Africa is limited but Kerr is hopeful that imbalance will be corrected soon.
