Robert Guelpen, a name that is associated with luxury scale model cars since the year 1999, is now attempting to finally outdo himself, with his ambitious new project of designing an all new scale model car that will go down into the record books as the world’s most expensive scale model car. In his recent revelation, this highly talented artist has stated that, he is currently looking for a prospective buyer who is willing to shell out a staggering $4.8 million as the minimum bidding price for the new model car, that will go up for auction in New York once completed.
As per Mr. Guelpen, the development cost alone will climb up to approximately $2.7 million due the components required in the creation of the model car. These components will include platinum, gold, sterling silver and numerous precious stones. As of now, there is no definite word on as to which luxury car will be turned into the world’s most expensive scale model car, as Robert has submitted his proposal to various luxury auto manufacturers, requesting for a vehicle, that he can turn into a scale model of 1:24 or 1:18 scale. Mr. Guelpen has stated that, if this ambitious project comes to fruition, then he will donate $700,000 from the sale to charity. Robert is best known for his exquisite replica of a Mercedes SL600 (R129), that still adorns the Mercedes-Benz AG boardroom in Stuggart, Germany and the designer is world renowned for his incredible luxury scale models of various high end auto brands including, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar and Bentley.
