Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2011 Collection Inspired by Chinese Fashions

The Ralph Lauren Fall 2011 Collection was presented during the NY Fashion Week. It was another show of his class. The collection is timeless, glamorous and dramatic. People who matter in the fashion industry were bowled over by the collection, dubbing it a masterpiece. The experts really appreciated the ability of Ralph Lauren of taking his classics and giving them new twists and new drama. In short, the collection was unmistakably Ralph Lauren.

What is new about the collection is that it is predominantly influenced by Chinese fashions. There was a black glossy silk illusion sweater dress, a jade silk panne velvet wrap dress and a red silk shantung embroidered smoking jacket that was shown under a black cashmere cocoon coat trimmed with long hair shearling. Several of the evening dresses were embroidered and beaded. Ralph Lauren’s son, David who is the Senior Vice President, Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications for Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. Explained the Chinese inspiration by talking about Ralph’s first visit to China this past year.

His company has plans to expand rapidly in China in the coming two years. During his visit he saw China through Ralph Lauren lens and the collection is his interpretation of a China that could and should be. André Leon Talley, Contributing Editor to Vogue, couldn’t stop raving about the collection. He was particularly impressed by the shapes and colors. He concluded by saying that the most amazing thing was the bugle beaded pajama pants suit.
