As the Queen intends to celebrate her diamond jubilee during next year, among a number of progrmmes one of the highlights is a luxury cruise ship. The retired Royal Yacht is not in a position to offer any ship as they are engaged in serving tourist attraction at Leith docks. As the Queen already utilized twice the services of Hebridean Princess, now she is willing to use something new. An offer to use fifty million pounds private yacht has come when the Queen had lunch on board Leander, entertained by Sir Gosling at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.
During the celebration on June 3rd next year the flotilla would offer the Queen’s guests with rowing boats and sailing ships. Invitees will also take part in the prestigious Royal Diamond jubilee celebrations. Brief details of the £375,000 a week charter Leander cruise ship is that it houses 24 crew including two chefs but the Queen follows a practice of leaving the chefs on shore and palace chefs will take over.
The interior of Leander has great interiors which almost resembles the magnificent state drawing room of Britannia. Leander’s master state room is more luxurious than the Queens modest bedroom. Britannia had its own garage capable of holding Rolls Royce which Leander does not have, which hardly makes any difference as the Queen does not need road transport for the Diamond Jubilee celebration. The Queen of England is known for her miserly ways, and cutting costs but then the British economy is just as bad at the moment. However, I guess the Queen finally decided to splurge, for once at least!
