Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration: Precious Stones Exhibited at the Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace exhibited dazzling diamonds to commemorate the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration on the throne. The exhibition’s focal point is to display the monarch’s personal jewels and also charting of precious gemstone’s association of sovereign since last two hundred years.

Among the items Granny’s tiara was worn by the Queen at the state banquet in November for the President of Turkey which was also called as the “Girls of Great Britain Tiara” was presented to the Queen from her grandmother on the occasion of her wedding as wedding present in 1947. The Granny’s tiara   is one of the favorites of the Queen which is very light and convenient to wear.

Many jewelry pieces have undergone transformations having been used in new settings or re-cut depending on preferences and fashion of the queens who wore them. The visitors will have an opportunity to see the earrings and necklace worn by the Queen during her coronation ceremony in 1953 in Westminster Abbey.

Queen Victoria’s personal miniature crown is one of the historic pieces, will also be displayed, which measures only 9cm by 10cm and has nearly 1,200 diamonds. The Queen’s affectionately referred jewels “my best diamonds” also are going to be displayed in the summer 2012 opening of the palace. On her twenty-first birthday, she had received bracelet and necklace from the Government of Africa were made up of 21 large diamonds. During August and September the jubilee celebration will take place at Buckingham Palace .The celebrations are planned to take place during bank holidays.
