Paris-based in-line skating association Rollers et Coquillages is known to organize a three-hour skating tour every Sunday.
The tour leaves Nomades skate shop at Bastille in Paris’s 12th Arrondissement at 2.30 p.m and takes you on an amazing journey of Paris in an almost traditional manner. Some 5000 to 7000 people take part in the tour, and it is one of the most “local” things to do when one is in Paris. There are more than 150 tours available and you could cover important touristy places such as the Hotel de Ville and Notre Dame, and also certain other places which are not that popular.
Quai d’Austerlitz and Boulevard Ménilmontant are such unknown places that could be covered on the skating tour. You could contact Nomades skate shop at 37 Boulevard Bourdon; 33-1-44-54-07-44 and they rent our in-line skates for 9 Euros. Wrist guards and helmets could also be hired. If you were wondering about the security issues posed by such a huge crowd, they allow people only after checking the I.D. cards, and I.D. cards are used as a deposit.
