The Qatari Royal family are the new owners of Harrods which is perhaps the world’s most iconic department store. The fact that they are Royals and they own Harrods did not immunize them from receiving parking tickets. Two of their top cars which are together worth 1.6 million British Pounds were clamped by the local parking attendants while the were parked outside the store.
The two cars in question are a Lamborghini Murchielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce which is valued at 350,000 British Pounds. The other one is a Koenigsegg CCXR which is worth 1.2 million British Pounds and what is more important is that there are only 5 other pieces like it manufactured so far. It must have been heart rending for even the bystanders to watch such cars being clamped.
These are legendary cars for which the potential buyer is flown to the company’s headquarters at an airbase in Sweden where Christian Von Koenigsegg personally take them for a drive. It is said that he accelerates to 200mph before hitting the brakes and without putting his hand on the steering wheel. The one made for the Qatari Royals generates 1,064 bhp, and can do 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. And if you are curious to know what happened after the clamping of royal cars, well a fine of about 120 pounds was paid for the release.
