Qatar Airways’ first Premium Lounge Outside Doha to Open at Heathrow

Qatar Airways is expanding its operations and has gone ahead and created a luxury infrastructure to support its premium service. The airline has set up a Premium Lounge at Terminal 4 of Heathrow Airport, London for first and business class passengers. Till now they were only operating the premium terminal at Doha International Airport, exclusively for use by passengers traveling in First or Business Class. The London facility will be the first for them that is outside their Doha hub. The airline is scheduled to launch new routes this year from Heathrow including the fifth daily flight to Doha.

The Premium Lounge at Heathrow has been designed like a boutique hotel or private member’s club and is sure to inspire other airlines to redesign their conventional airport lounges. It has set a new benchmark for international airport lounges. The idea behind the lounge is to provide the ultimate in luxury and five-star service. Akbar Al-Baker, the CEO of the airline believes that it was high time that the carrier’s service was extended beyond the signature Premium Terminal in Doha.

London was an obvious choice for Qatar Airways as it is one of their best performing routes and will become busier in the coming days as new flights are launched. Mr. Al-Baker feels that the lounge is an important step in consolidating their global network. It will give a boost to their expansion plans. He is confident that their loyal customers and even the new customers will take full advantage of the high levels of service the airline provides. Richard Oliver, their country manager for UK and Ireland is excited about the new lounge as it will prove to be a big support as new destinations like Chongqing, Kolkata, Perth, Kigali and Zanzibar are introduced during the year.
