Olympic Delivery Authority Begins Work in London

Olympic Delivery Authority has handed over the site of Olympic and Paralympics village to Organizing committee in a ceremony to mark exactly six month countdown to start the Games. The village will be built by the companies to ensure the work being completed on time. The work will start on huge scale with new apartments. The village will have 2818 flats to accommodate 16,000 officials and athletes from two hundred countries.

The village will need five thousand toilets, one lakh and seventy thousand coat hangers, eleven thousand sofas and sixty four thousand bed sheets. The next six months they have to focus on mobilizing people and training services. Locog (London organizing committee) has to start installing all the needed facilities to welcome the athletes around the globe. Opening and closing ceremonies will be delivered by the art director Danny Boyle Oscar award winning director for the opening ceremony and the closing ceremonies will be entrusted to artistic director Kim Gavin The executive producer Stephen Daldry will show off multimillion pound ceremony with a strong cast of 20,000 artists.

Locog organizers have made it clear that they don’t have any intention to be secretive of the event’s details. The Olympic village is in Stratford east London. The village will serve up to sixty thousand meals each day. The estimated requirements are three hundred and thirty tonnes of vegetables and fruits, seventy five thousand liters of milk, two hundred and thirty two tonnes of potatoes and twenty five thousand loaves of bread during the Games. Village will have internet lounge, beauty salon, bank, general store, cafe and shops in the entertainment centre. The percussionists, actors and dancers and all round performers will have part in the ceremonies.
