Bonhmas, New York is all set to auction the Mel Wimore Collection of MontBlanc pens this June. The greatest collection of pens of all times, they will also be displayed in Hong Kong and New York before the auction takes place. Around 300 pens will be put for sale at the auction. The Mel Wimore Collection is no ordinary collection for sure. It is a collection of pens that comes with a piece of history. It was in 1978 that Mel Wimore got an exquisite looking black Meisterstruck pen, by his boss for his very commendable performance. Struck by the pen and its stunning beauty, Mel Wilmore was ignited by the passion to know more about these pens and collect them. Thus was marked the beginnings of the Mel Wimore’s legendary MontBlanc collection. It is said that in order to store his massive collection of pens he actually had to build a separate room which was hidden behind a bookshelf. People who frequented his house could do nothing but stare in awe at his rather extraordinary fetish for pens!

The Mel Wimore Pen Collection
The Mel Wilmore pens have basically sought inspiration from various things. Such as the White House Limited Edition pen which has drawn influence from the architectural heritage of the White House. The pen is made of black resin and the iconic seal of the White House, the Eagle is also engraved at the bottom of the clip. The Presidential Seal has also been carved out on the nib and the columns of the White House get represented as white columns which are designed on the pen. The estimated price for this pen is around $20,000-$30,000.
With an estimated price of $12,000-$20,000 the Ruby Creation Limited Edition Fountain Pen will dazzle you with its many diamonds and rubies and not to forget the Golden Dragon on the cap which has been made of 18 Carat gold. Emeralds have been used for the dragon’s eyes which lends a very majestic look to the pen.
Legendary comedian Charlie Chaplin also features in this collection with the limited edition Charlie Chaplin pen which is expected to fetch around $25,000-$35,000. The pen’s captop is adorned with his signature hat and the cone and the barrel represent his trousers. The pen also depicts the design of modern day machines whose cogs have been made of 18 Carats of solid white gold.
The American Flag made from rubies and diamonds adorns the cap of the Stars and Stripes Limited edition fountain pen which is estimated to fetch a price of $15,000-$25,000. The pen symbolises patriotism through its stripes and stars and is made with resin with white gold filigree.
The spotlight at the auction will be on the Gold Fountain Pen and Watch that will at least mange to be auctioned at a price between $60,000-$75,000. It is a limited edition skeleton pen and is made of 18 karat gold with a translucent resin barrel. It is a pen that represents the fine craftsmanship that MontBlanc is known for around the world.
