To ease the construction of West Island Line, the old Swimming Pool of Kennedy Town was demolished next to the Belcher Park, new pool that has emerged is approachable by tram or bus. Currently in 0.8 hectares, the complex has two outdoor swimming pools. The waterfront locations are the new prime destination of public transportation system of Kennedy Town in Hong Kong.
So the new complex of Kennedy town swimming pool has been designed to improve the local community by providing public amenities that will provide a character to Kennedy Town with the tram line terminating in the heart of the residential area. Neighboring buildings are predominantly residential towers of up to 35 storey height. From the swimming pool, uniquely designed complex facilitates public to relish a fabulous view of Victoria Harbour.
The iconic structure with its transparency, overlooking the Victoria Harbor, is an environmentally sustainable design solution, adjacent to residential towers. The new swimming pools complex construction involves two phases. The first phase consists of leisure pool and outdoor secondary pool. The new Pool is opened partially for public use since May 11. In the second phase, a Jacuzzi, a teaching pool and multipurpose pool are scheduled to complete in 2016. Leisure and Cultural Services Department allows the public to enjoy the fun of swimming. The LCSD is very particular about cleanliness and hygiene while having fun. The swimmers are advised to use toilet before swimming. Swimmer should have shower bath and footbath before entering the pool deck.
