LuXplosion 2010: Pam Danziger Nominated for The Decadent Researchers Category

Pamela N. Danziger found the boutique market research firm, Unity Marketing way back in 1992. Since then the firm and Pamela herself have come a long way. She has become a world renowned expert in the field of consumer psychology, and has even received the Global Luxury Award presented by Harper’s Bazaar for top luxury industry achievers in 2007. Her firm focuses on ‘why people buy,’ and helps marketers and retailers that sell luxury goods and experiences to the ‘masses as well as the classes,’ to sell it better. What sets her apart is her combination of the quantitative with the qualitative i.e. hard data with psychological understanding of what motivates the customer to buy, and specifically buy what kind of products.

She already has three books in her kitty, Why People Buy Things They Don’t Need, Let Them Eat Cake: Marketing Luxury to the Masses as well as the Classes, and the latest one, Shopping: Why We Love It and How Retailers Can Create the Ultimate Customer Experience. She has been a keynote speaker at several conferences of organisations like Global Luxury Forum, Global Shop, National Retail Federation, The Conference Board and many more. Her insights on corporate sales and advertisers’ meetings have been used by clients such as Cayman Islands Tourism Board, Crystal Cruises, Marie Claire magazine, Cartier, Architectural Digest, Domino magazine among others. She has featured in several well known publications such as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Businessweek, Forbes, USA Toda, and T.V. shows like NBC’s Today Show, CBS News Sunday Morning, to name a few.
