Gulfstream has been a long celebrated name as makers of the world’s most advanced business jet aircrafts. The company been a unit of General dynamics since the year 1999 and has produced as much as 1500 aircrafts for corporate, government, private, and military customers around the world. Gulfstream aircrafts are known to be used by more than one-quarter of Fortune 500 companies.
Since the year 2001, the company has been on expansion spree. It has acquired Galaxy Aerospace in 2001 and rebranded their aircraft models. The company did go through a rough patch post the September 11, 2011 attacks and it had to lay as much as 1000 employees and close down its manufacturing unit in Savannah for four weeks. The aerospace company has bagged two Collier Trophies for the development of their G5550 model. It was also given the title of being the first business-jet-manufacturer in 2005 to offer an in-flight, ultra-high-speed internet connection, dubbed BBML.
