Blogs have grown like medicine and surgery. Being a general surgeon is not good enough so you specialise. When you realise that you are at your best doing a particular thing, then you become a super specialist. Drawn similarly is a blog that is a super specialist. Their site says” The Drawn Blog is your daily source of inspiration for illustration, animation, cartooning, and comic art.” Now you get the picture. They were not satisfied by being a specialist in art so they have become a super specialist in comic art.
Started in 2005 they have created a respectable space for themselves in the blogosphere. There are several blogs that are dedicated to creative arts. Unfortunately they don’t take the comic arts very seriously. In any case it is not their focus area. People who have grown on comics have a huge interest in it and the Drawn Blog caters to that segment. The drawn Blog has been nominated for the Decadent Art category at the LuXplosion 2010. It is the younger generation that gets attracted to it first and then gets hooked for life.
The drawn blog, though focused on comic arts also provides different flavours. It naturally covers comics, illustration and animation but it also has content of substance on art. It also talks about books, new designs. It covers a lot of how-to and children’s books. The community attached to it is rather interested in the process so they carry a lot of stuff on process. We can go on as you will find typography, Halloween, Webcomics, sketches, prints, video games and above all ideas. It is much more than a blog on comic arts but still it remains its main focus. You can follow Drawn on Twitter.
