London set to get a posh hotel at Mayfair

London is set to get another posh hotel in a few years. This hotel will be constructed by Corbin & Kings Hotels, in collaboration with Grosvenor. They recently got the approval to make this hotel in Central London. The estimated cost of this boutique hotel will be £40million. This group is the name behind the famous London Ivy restaurant. They are planning to convert an old town garage in the Mayfair area into a grand 85 bedroom hotel. The property had recently been listed grade II.

The Westminster Council gave its nod of approval to raising the height of the building by two more stories, taking the total number of floors to six. The company is hoping to start the construction soon and finish the work within 18 to 20 months, and have grand opening by 2013.

Sarah-Jane Curtis, Retail Investment Director at Grosvenor stated: “We are delighted to have secured planning consent for this landmark building, and we are in detailed discussions with Chris Corbin and Jeremy King as partners for the investment in this project.” An advantage on their side is that the location is pretty good. But one will have to wait and watch how this property actually shapes up.
