Karl Lagerfeld’s Short Fashion Film for Chanel, Window World

Karl Lagerfeld’s short film for the Paris-Shanghai collection had become controversial and it seemed like he is consciously keeping himself away from doing a fashion film as he skipped doing the film for the Paris-Byzance collection. But now that he has featured himself in an ad film, he couldn’t keep himself from shooting a short film. Window World has just been released which is Karl’s latest fashion film for Chanel.

Magdalena Frackowiak, Barbara Dvorakova and Baptiste Giabiconi feature in the short and sweet film. Window World shows them as mannequin in a store window along with a lot of actual mannequins. Bags and clutches have been highlighted well. The editing of the film is tight and swift. The images of the models and mannequins keep interchanging rapidly. The overall impact of the film is interesting.

I am not sure if the music in the background is an original score or has been lifted from some suspense movie. It does sound like it is building up to a dramatic climax. And the climax is, both the girls running to the boy and thinking that he is a mannequin. It is an entertaining short film but definitely not the best work from Karl Lagerfeld.
