JJ Valaya Presents a Collection of Thai Artifacts in an Exhibition

JJ Valaya is amongst the leading fashion designers in India. He has visited Thailand several times and has fallen in love with the country, its people and its arts and crafts. He has created a beautiful collection of artifacts from Thailand to express that love under the Valaya Home Label. He presented 51 pieces of artifacts personally picked by him at an exhibition titled SIAM-The Monk and The Monarch. The exhibition was held at Okhla recently and is a part of the Home of the Traveler series.

Valaya explained that the exhibition was a result of passion for travel. He is an avid traveler . He became interested in the history of Thailand and he started collecting eclectic remnants of historical pieces made by artisans whose talent has been passed down from generations. The evening was a success if you go by the attendance. Art aficionados, fashionistas and socialites were all there in good numbers. Payal Jain loved the white bamboo sculptures and even wanted to buy one but the piece was already sold.

Sunil Sethi had helped Valaya organize the exhibition for an intimate group at his office premises. He had done it for a friend though his preference lies with Indian art work. He said he enjoyed the process of organizing the exhibition as the art pieces from Thailand were rather interesting. He did not buy any as they would not match with the rest of his collection which is completely Indian. He had done it as a gesture for a friend and not as a professional, though Valaya had gifted him a shirt designed by him that Sethi wore during the evening event.
