George Best was one of the most famous celebrity football players during 1968. When Manchester united won the prestigious European cup medal which happened to be first English team to do so, the most important goal was scored by George.
Beyond anybody’s imagination, his prized possessions were auctioned for a mere 250,000 pounds. Out of which a medal fetched 156,000 which is supposed to be the most expensive item among 11 that were sold. Strangely the gross amount is equivalent to the amount which Rooney, his successor to the Manchester united team demands as his fees for a week. Ironically this medal was bought by an unanimous bidder. George Best was an Irish by birth. This born star will be cherished in our memory with great honour. He was living legend in his era.
Unfortunately his end came under tragic circumstances due to ill health. His shining career was destroyed by ill habits like squandering money, addiction to alcohol. These issues were revealed by him. During the 60s his life style was extravagant, and whatever assets he had was wiped out by debts. His legacy was auctioned only to liquidate his liabilities. He died in 2005 when he was 59 years old leaving behind his only son.
