The Dorset Square Hotel is the latest addition to the portfolio of Firmdale Hotels. They have refurbished the hotel completely after taking it over. It now bears the distinct stamp of Kit Kemp’s signature style. You will see bold colors and textures everywhere. Located at Marylebone, one of London’s most urbane and exciting residential areas, the hotel is housed in a regency townhouse. It has a total of 38 rooms which have been individually designed. Many of the rooms offer views of the private garden square which was built on Thomas Lord’s first cricket ground. The location of the hotel is very convenient as it is close to London’s theatre-land and financial district.
Cricket: Recurring Theme at Firmdale Hotel
The individual design of the rooms makes the environment very lively. One of the rooms even has denim wallpaper. The public spaces are full of leafy plants and feature French wallpaper. What is striking in the renovated hotel is the one-off pieces as well as original art collected from around the world. Cricket is a recurring theme throughout the hotel. The Potting Shed bar & restaurant which is open all day long features many of these cricket paintings. The menu has been created with locally sourced and seasonal produce and the restaurant serves what they call “English brasserie style cuisine”.
Firmdale to Build Flagship London Hotel by 2013
The London hotel is surrounded by fashionable shops, cafés, restaurants and world-class galleries and is suitable for you whatever your business or interest. You have a range of rooms available at different price points. The simplest of them is Single and Superior. There are better options like Luxury and Deluxe and the best rooms are Dorset Square and Marylebone rooms. The tariff for the Single room is £150 ($233) which is the cheapest the hotel has to offer and the most expensive room in the hotel is the Marylebone room which will cost you £330 ($513). These rates are exclusive of VAT. Firmdale has returned to Dorset Square after a decade and their next project is the 100 room flagship London hotel which should be ready by the end of 2013.
