For the many things Dubai is known for, one is housing the world’s tallest building and bridge. Now they are again to set a record with the world’s largest airport christened ‘Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International’. All set to open on June 27, the airport will initially open for cargo passenger operations. Prior to its official launch, Emirates Airline landed their plane thereby becoming the first airline to land their carrier.
Emirates operation served as a final exam. A lot of extensive array of systems took place including process and documentation checks, test and trials. Many dignitaries were present to welcome Boeing 777 freighter coming from Hong-Kong. It was a step forward to achieve Dubai’s vision to become the world’s pre-eminent center said the Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports.
The airport will have five million passenger terminal capacities. Phase I of the airport will feature A380 capable runway with 64 remote stands, one cargo terminal with annual capacity for 250,000 tons of cargo.
The final review will be held on June 24 to complete airport licensing by ‘The General Civil Aviation Authority’. During the operation the flight had effectively checked Air Traffic Control procedures, radio communication, cargo handling, fueling, catering, customs, immigration and security.
