The designer duo of Daniel Hellman and Eric Chang have been doing really well for themselves these days. It was only four years ago that these two had launched their signature custom furniture line. Their most memorable model and one of the very first was the Z pedestal table that had brought them into the limelight thanks to the several wards that it had won. The Four Seasons, the Waldorf-Astoria, the Intercontinental, and Sotheby’s, are just some of their clients.
With names like these, you would probably have an idea about their greatness. They have collaborated with Swarovski this time around to create two very lovely side-tables called the Omni and the Z. Made from walnut and with a finishing of either powder white or high-polished jet black, the Z has twisting zigzagging legs, whereas the Omni has a serpentine hollow drumlike look. Hellman said: “The Omni [$12,000 with crystals; $5,300 without] is a very labor-intensive piece involving a lot of shaping and swooping surfaces. The crystals are first embedded on a mesh screen and recessed into the wood surface, which is later covered in star-fire glass.”
Other items from their made to order furniture collection are the Z rectangular dining table ($21,000) having a highly sculptural pedestal base, and the Addison cocktail table ($6,800).
