The iconic Japanese Hello Kitty has gone high on bling previously too, but perhaps this is a step up from the last time. A Swarovski crystal-studded Hello Kitty figure is currently placed in the House of Hello Kitty at Omotesando, Tokyo. This unique centerpiece for the Swarovski Hello Kitty Collection event is decked with 20,000 Swarovski crystals and comes with a price tag of 1.2 million yen ($14,800).
However, this is only one part of the cool Hello Kitty exhibit. The pink confines of the House of Hello Kitty are brimming with Swarovski studded Hello Kitty merchandise. Visitors can choose from a range of cool and cute accessories, whether earrings, bracelets or keychains. The ladies would love the super-cute Swarovski-studded Hello Kitty clutch bag from Elle, despite the $100,000 price tag.
Another highlight of this Hello Kitty exhibit is the cool and elaborate Hello Kitty chandelier that adorns the various rooms. At the entrance stands an interactive 3D hologram display that features a floating Hello Kitty and showers of crystals among other things. Visitors can also don red ribbons, earrings and other cute Hello Kitty products and get photographed at the digital AR photo area. There is also a UFO catcher display, with a limited edition Hello Kitty doll up for grabs.
The Omotesando neighborhood will also become the venue for a unique Hello Kitty treasure hunt. Participants will have to race through the streets to locate nine Hello Kitty art pieces created by nine artists. These artworks will be auctioned after 10 July with the proceeds being donated in aid of the 3/11 earthquake.
The Swarovski Hello Kitty Collection will remain on display until 7 July.
