The action is shifting slowly but surely to East, rather the Far East. With the luxury market booming in China the luxury travel has also started focusing on China in particular and the Far East in general. Celebrity Cruises have put in place their plans for their first season in Asia. The bookings have been thrown open but the schedule is still some time away. Celebrity Millennium will undertake the inaugural Asian voyage during the winter of 2012-13. The cruise liner will visit nine countries including Vietnam, Thailand and China.
The itineraries for the inaugural Asian season for Celebrity Cruises have been worked out in detail. There are a series of 14-night itineraries between Singapore and Hong Kong, and will include overnight stays in Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long Bay, and Hong Kong. There are options for 14 night round trip sailings from Singapore with overnight stays in Bali. This option is available in January 2013. Dan Hanrahan, President and Chief Executive of Celebrity Cruises is very upbeat about their plans for the Asian season. He explained that these plans have resulted from consumer demand.
One transpacific sailing planned for November 2012 would be very exciting as the guests on the cruise liner will be able to witness a total solar eclipse while sailing from Fiji to New Zealand. April 2013 onwards eastbound cruises across the north Pacific to Alaska will start and will call at a number of ports in China, Japan and Russia. There are packages combining a cruise with a five-night pre-or post-cruise escorted land package out of Hong Kong. The excursions will feature trips to Xian and Beijing to view the Terracotta Army and Great Wall of China.
