Burj Khalifa Houses Dubai’s First Gold Vending Machines

Gold vending machines are here to stay. After setting up shop at Abu Dhabi, Boca Raton, Florida and Las Vegas, gold vending machines are moving to the tallest building in the world. Dubai’s Burj Khalifa has now acquired its own ‘Gold to go’ vending machines. Incidentally, these machines are located at ‘At the Top’, Burj Khalifa’s observation deck. At the Top happens to be the world’s highest observation deck with an open terrace area.

People visiting the Burj Khalifa can now come away with gold bars that flaunt the Burj Khalifa logo. Four different sizes of gold bars will be available through the newly placed vending machines. The sizes are 2.5 gms, 5 gms, 10 gms and 1 ounce. Interestingly, the machines themselves are coated in 24-carat gold.

These ‘Gold to go’ vending machines are the first of their kind in Dubai. It is telling that these have been placed within the megacity’s top tourist destination. Dubai Operations CEO of Emaar Properties, Issam Galadari said that visiting the Burj Khalifa is a “memorable experience”. He added that thanks to the ‘Gold to go’ vending machines, people can bring back gold souvenirs from this iconic tourist destination. Thomas Geissler, who invented the first gold vending machine, welcomed the move, predicting that the value of the Burj Khalifa gold bars shall never decrease.

The gold vending machines will be yet another feather in the cap for the world’s tallest building, which was recently awarded the prestigious ‘Global Icon’ status by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
