Bottega veneta, under its diversification plans has unveiled its first watch. It is a unisex timepiece called BVX. Since they don’t have the required infrastructure for designing and producing watches they have collaborated with the Sowind Group who own Girard-Perregaux. BVX has been designed exclusively for Bottega Veneta. Made from 18 karat rose gold the watch boasts of an automatic movement and a small hand indicating seconds.
Brushed titanium has been used to make the 41mm case. The case has been finished with a PVD coating in the brand’s signature brunito color. A curved sapphire crystal also covers the face and the underside of the watch. A single screw in the centre runs through the entire watch from top to bottom. Tomas Maier, Creative Director of Bottega Veneta was very excited about getting into watches as it fits in perfectly with the philosophy of the company of artisanal craftsmanship, fine-quality materials, contemporary functionality, and timeless design.
Girard-Perregaux team has the finest watch making expertise in the world and has helped Bottega Veneta take another step in the evolution of the brand. The design has taken care of some finer detail as well. The crown has been placed a little lower than 3 o’clock so that it doesn’t dig into the wearer’s hand. The straps have been designed to be adjustable and can be loosened or tightened when you want. The watch is not yet ready for retail yet. It will be available at select Bottega Veneta stores worldwide at the end of the year.
