Base2Stay in Liverpool is trying to change the trend or creating a new trend for budget luxury tourist accommodation. People are fed up of getting ripped off for services they don’t want and are often surprised by the hidden costs. Base2Stay is concentrating on basics and seems to be getting it right. It has practically no traditional hotel facilities. It has no restaurant, no gym, no bar, boutique or breakfast room. But it is very stylish and comfortable.
It is simply a place to stay and a five star one that are priced at two star rates as they have cut down the extras. The location of the Base is also very appropriate. The area is the night life hub of Liverpool. The building in which this hotel is housed was built in 1850s but has been cleverly restored and extended. It was originally a printing works but has now been redesigned and has a very slick and contemporary look.
The hotel opened in August and is the second of what will likely become a nationwide franchise, given the success of the concept. The flagship hotel in Kensington started in 2006 and has established itself for its eco-friendly fundamentals.
