Armenian-American Billionaire Kirk Kerkorian Helps Build Schools in Yerevan

Armenian-American billionaire Kirk Kerkorian is planning to donate $12 million to help develop schools in Armenia, and also to refurbish the existing ones. His U.S.-based Lincy Foundation has already spent $22 million and is one of the most charitable organizations working in Armenia.

10 schools have been constructed in Yerevan and the fact that Armenia has seen so much in the recent years, and none of that has been positive, this extra ordinary move brings hope to the people of Armenia. Schools are a basic necessity but even these have been lacking in Armenia after years of war and oppression at the hands of Soviet Union. The Commu7nist regime paralyzed this nation which sits at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.

Kerkorian was ranked 41st on “Forbes” magazine’s list of the world’s wealthiest individuals and that probably has become one of the reasons for him to make sure that he has a good reputation. Part of the donation’s pur0pose could be an image building exercise that is certainly also quite good hearted in nature. We hope that many more billionaires come up with their own ingenious ideas to build schools and refurbish them in their countries.
