The Chanel store is Soho is back in business. It had a grand reopening the other day when so many stars flocked over there and the champagne poured down the glasses and foie gras was galore. This store is in 98 Wooster Street in the Soho area. Peter Marino and Karl Lagerfeld has both designed this new store which looks absolutely stunning.
Only black and white has been used. Marino explains the reason for this by saying, “Beige is the color of Chanel. But this is strikingly youthful. And there is a lot of artwork by up-and-coming artists: works by Robert Green, Gregor Hildebrandt– he melted old 45 records into cake pans. Richard Woods did the black-and-white faux-brick columns.” Most of the attendees like Claire Danes, Sarah Jessica Parker were wearing Chanel. Surprise Surprise!
The scene at the shop’s windows made you think of an early winter, as it displayed winter fantasy scenes. The mannequins’ hair were wrapped in big white braids and wore furry ski boots and lacy, frilly sweaters. Even the guests were dressed in a similar attire. The guests danced till the wee hours of the night and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mademoiselle Coco Chanel would have been very happy.
