A Bulgari Hotel in London Could be the Beginning of Branding of Luxury Hotels
|There are several high end luxury hotel properties in different stages of construction but all scheduled to open their doors in time for the 2012 Olympics. The luxury hotel property in Knightsbridge has been in the news recently because of the interest shown in it by Rosalía Mera, the first wife of the Inditex founder Amancio Ortega. According to a report in The Times, she is considering diversifying her portfolio with an investment in a new hotel property.
Bulgari, the Italian luxury goods group is in advanced talks with Prime Investors Capital who are the investment management company behind the hotel project. The Knightsbridge hotel property has been under construction for some time now and is scheduled to open in time for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. A topping out ceremony on the property is planned for February 14.
Fast Future Research has done a study on the hotel industry and its future. Their report, Hotels 2020 – Beyond Segmentation, predicts that luxury branding of hotels could be one of the paths to success over the next decade. The report also suggests that in order to deliver a customized hotel environment and differentiate an offering more high street and luxury brands will get involved in the hotel industry over the next decade. We are sure to see branding of amenities, bedding or furniture, or even branding of the hotel itself.
